Descaling your Nespresso machine: how to keep your Nespresso machine in perfect condition

Why descale your Nespresso machine?

Regular descaling helps keep your Nespresso machine in perfect working order. Limescale, especially in hard water, can slow the flow rate, reduce the temperature, and alter the taste of the coffee.
Regular maintenance helps prevent blockages and extends the life of your machine. This allows you to enjoy coffee every day, just the way you like it: full of aroma and at the perfect temperature.

When to descale?

Descaling is recommended every 3 months or after approximately 300 capsules . If you use your Nespresso machine more frequently or live in an area with hard water (high in calcium), we advise descaling every 2 months. Hard water promotes limescale buildup, which affects the flow rate, temperature, and taste of your coffee.

The Nespresso descaling kit

The Nespresso descaling kit has been specially designed to safely and effectively remove limescale. The liquid contains a combination of citric and lactic acids , powerful against limescale, yet gentle on your machine.

Each kit includes two doses and clear instructions, suitable for all Nespresso models . Regular descaling with this kit ensures optimal performance of your coffee machine.

Do you use a different Nespresso model, such as Lattissima or Creatista ?

For these machines, the descaling process may vary slightly. Consult Machine Support for step-by-step instructions specific to your coffee machine.

Can you descale your Nespresso machine with vinegar?

Using vinegar to descale your machine may seem convenient, but it's not without risk. Vinegar can damage the internal parts of your Nespresso machine, especially the seals, and leave unpleasant odors or tastes.
